About Us

We are a holistic business, driven by our absolute values in Innovation, Simplicity, Community, Excellence and Integrity.

Our value driven strategy is applied in supporting our mission to become the preferred Student Accommodation provider in Africa. 2020 Has impelled our focus on empowerment, innovation and entrepreneurship. Our sustainable asset management practices are implemented to ensure the necessary yield is provided to our funders and shareholders alike.

CGES is a privately-owned entity and is not listed on the JSE. Old Mutual, through Futuregrowth holds a strategic stake in our business, as well as being a considerable funder of the group. Our diverse portfolio of services expand across Asset and Property Management, Integrated Services (Technical and Soft service provision), Technology Services, Value Added Service as well as Financial Solutions.

As a service centric business, our core strength lies in our Human Resource Assets. Empowerment is therefore a crucial facet to our business, and we believe in the development and evolution of our people through structured learning in a diversified environment.

Our Group structure includes the creation and activation through mergers and acquisitions of like-minded, niche services companies which we believe are vital on the African continent. Through this strategy, we aim to create a shift in the vision and philosophy of empowerment and become the driver for change in Africa.

A focus on diversified, alternative revenue streams.

At CGES, our unique structure, impelled by continuous constraint imposed from an organization managed out of business rescue, as well as a constant lack of growth capital and associated support has been the driving factor behind our phenomenal growth trajectory in the 2019|2020 period.
We have taken ‘turning constraints into opportunities’ to heart, and created a successful, future proof business, satisfying investors and customers alike.
We are blessed to have the ceaseless support of our Executive staff, who strive daily to drive their business through unchartered territory, reaching new heights continually.
In 2019, our altered mindset changed the development strategy landscaping, where our focus shifted towards fostering and developing a diversified services business.
CGES is proof that constraints and challenges are not the final step to a successful organization, they are in fact only the beginning. CGES | Group Ecosystem Services continues to grow, taking on new opportunities and businesses, creating employment and fostering a sense of empowerment and entrepreneurship.

Redewaan Isaacs

Business Ecosystem Executive

With a diverse 22 years of experience in Executive Leadership positions ranging in operations management, team and business growth strategies, property, asset management, facility, soft services and tertiary education.

“I have a  responsibility influence on the entire CGES business to develop us into a focused property and leading technology enabled services business”.

The messaging and resources of CGES has been reframed by bulking up our technology experts in our IT business, where they need to find solutions for the most common operational problems in the service industry, that being clients always asking “do I need all these human resources and are they productive?” – in his view that is a common question and all service providers have the same subjective answer one way or another; we want to move this to a factual objective answer where it either means up-selling or down scaling the resources with facts. He also believes it can be a quick win item and when our teams see the impact of it the journey to more innovative changes will be positive. Another example of our technology enabled services solution is our general maintenance program where we could exactly track which items in our assets require repairs the most and was able to send the correct resources to deal with the brake downs and out of 1458 work orders on the single site 878 (60%) was for toilets and kitchen work areas – so the data informed us who we must send, what was the problem and gave us insight into workmanship of the items in question and we could take factual informed decisions. This is how we will differentiate ourselves from our competitors

He has a strong belief that when it comes to synergies, it is crucial that the heads of the business and all their teams understand the integrated model and how they intend to utilze technology to differentiate them in the industry. CGES is in a unique position in not having legacy silo businesses and therefore can shape the culture. A culture of collaboration, acceptance of technology and the use of big data to assist in problem solving.
